Sakura Gakuen is a Japanese Language School located in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area (Pleasanton, CA).

While living in the United States, it is not easy to understand nor maintain Japanese language and culture.

Sakura Gakuen offers an environment to help students learn Japanese language that is difficult to do at home alone. Students learn based on our own unique curriculum created by our experienced staff to steadily improve Japanese tailored to the environment in the United Stated while incorporating the positive aspects of Japan’s educational system.

Based on the student’s age, we recommend a class or lesson that best suits the students considering the student’s Japanese learning background, level, and future learning goal.

Testimonials

My daughter started attending this school from the beginning of this year and it is such a wonderful school. She loves to go and learn different things every time. Teachers are so dedicated, professional and so good with kids. I used to think that I have to try to prepare her for Hoshuko when she turns 5, but I will just keep sending her here instead of Hoshuko. The staff are wonderful people, so kind and caring. I will also enroll my younger son soon. If you want your child to learn
Japanese, this is the school.”

I’ve been taking my daughter to classes at Sakura Gakuen for 3 years now. I’m so impressed with
the curriculum and the teachers – each has been wonderful in her own way…Patient, caring and enthusiastic. I didn’t think I’d be able to raise a bilingual child, but it is possible! She can now speak and sing songs in Japanese. She reads and writes all her hiragana.
Japanese language classes are offered in two tracks- one for kids who have at least one parent who speaks Japanese at home, and those who don’t. The school front lobby is brightly decorated w seasonal themes and work done by children. They also have events like the annual Mochitsuki (end of Jan), speech contests, and summer “camp” sessions, too. Lots going on. Worth checking out if you want to learn Japanese language and culture!

For any child at any age, this school is amazing and highly recommend. My daughter is in the middle of her second year and LOVES the school and teachers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the classroom highly interactive. The sensei always makes the classroom environment welcoming, relaxing, and ready to get to work. My daughter looks forward to going to school every week and the kids come from all over the East and South Bay areas to attend. She is in a classroom with kids ranging 7th grade through high school, all ethnicities, mix of boys and girls, and some drive up to 45-50 minutes to get there. Class size is about 10-12 kids and they have such a great time learning together. The school is located about 1-2 minutes off the freeway, with easy access in/out in a light industrial park. Nestled in the back corner, there is very little traffic and ample parking. I wait in my car or run errands during the 2 hours in the evening when my daughter is in class and can say the area is very clean and safe.
